Established in 1971, the 18-hole championship golf course on Desert Island was designed by the legendary Desmond Muirhead, one of golf’s most famous and iconoclastic architects, who spent his career challenging conventional course design.
Private goes public
Welcome to the Private made Public, where Desert Island members and visitors mix in an updated, upgraded, thoroughly reanimated country club scene. Only on DI can you play a public course like a private club member, with many of the amenities and privileges traditionally associated with private clubs.

The Desert Island course is panoramic from every angle, challenging but not outlandish, with gentle slopes, cooling breezes from the 25 acre lake, plenty of shade from the treelined fairways and short distances between greens and tees.

Golfers can enjoy stellar on course refreshment every 4 1/2 Holes, at 9 1/2 or Red’s Oasis.
9 1/2 Bar & Kitchen
Situated next to the putting green between holes nine and ten, 9 1/2 Bar & Kitchen is the ideal watering-hole for hungry and thirsty golfers before they tee off, half way through their round, after they finish, or indeed at all three times. House-made grab ’n’ go bites, craft coffee, cocktails, beer and wine. Open to golfers and non-golfers, and anyone who appreciates lakeside alfresco imbibing.
Red's Oasis
Our mid-course watering hole featuring chef-created, bite sized delights, hand shaken cocktails, craft coffee, chilled towels and more. At the southern center of the course, Red’s is conveniently located adjacent to holes 4 and 13. Open 7 days a week for golfers only.
